Racial Othering
Der Drang Weißer Menschen zu betonen, was an Schwarzen, Braunen und indigenen Menschen of Colour anders ist als an ihnen selbst. Problematisch ist es, dass dabei Weißsein als Norm dargestellt wird. Auch Witze über Hautfarben und Hauttöne von BiPoC sind eine Form des Otherings.// White people’s urge to emphasize the differences between Black, Brown, and indigenous People of Colour and them. It’s problematic because whiteness is set as default. Jokes about BiPoC’s skin colours and shades are also one of many forms of othering.
Whataboutism
Eine Praxis, bei der Menschen aus einem Unwohlsein heraus von einem angesprochenen Problem (oftmals relativierend) mit anderen Problemen abzulenken versuchen. Weiße Menschen lenken beim Thema Rassismus oftmals ab, indem sie andere Ungerechtigkeiten benennen.// A praxis in which people distract from one issue by addressing another because they are uncomfortable. White people oftentimes try to derail conversations about race and make it about other issues.
Gaslighting
Gaslighting ist eine Form von psychischer Gewalt, bei der eine Person in das Anzweifeln ihrer Erfahrungen and Lebensrealität manipuliert wird und/oder die Realität so verdreht wird, dass einer Person die Schuld an etwas gegeben wird, das nicht ihre Schuld war.// Gaslighting is a form of mental violence in which a person is manipulated into doubting their own experiences and reality and/or is being blamed into guilt for something that is not their fault.
